So, my Astronomy and Space subscription comes up for renewal soon. We all know the opinions of Astronomy Ireland on this forum. As a result I am considering not renewing after many years with them. Having said that, I have to say that I do like their magazine. But anyway, what other astronomy magazines do people recommend that myself or others can subscribe to that would be good for what is going on in Irish skies?

Over the years I've found that Sky and Telescope suits me best and I buy the odd copy of Astronomy Now for local stuff.

    Yhwh, check out this thread:

Can Astronomy Ireland really be considered an 'Astronomy Club' any more?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll have a closer look at those ones.

<SNIP> has just set up to sell discounted magazine subscriptions in the irish market.
I don't think they have any astronomy titles yet, but they have a suggestion box.

Astronomy Now has to be the best in my opinion. I've been getting it for almost 18 years now and it has a consistently good quality, breadth and depth of articles and topics covered.

It's got the most text and articles for your money. A big problem of Astro mags is adversising all over the place.

Second, I would rate the US magazine Astronomy. It has a better layout than AN, but has far less articles and much more advertising.

    Third - Sky and Telecsope

They also picked a fight with Devore when apparently.the lovely Mr Moore asked boards to start an AI forum and then asked boards to close it when it did,nt go all AI's way! it seems this was an Astonomy forum only.

Devore closed the forum and then re-opened it as a boards forum

It is all there in the Wonderful archives of this forum,You only have to go back to 2003 {if memory serves}to find it!:)

AI would charge a fee if You asked them what time it is IMO.

No ethos of Amateur Astronomy with him, Just YoYo's IMO

Here's the link to the start of this forum, and Yes it was 2003:)

So many milestones since then are archived along the way to the present day.

Makes for good browsing when there is no Magazines to hand!:)
