    Hi all,

I had Sky+ installed on Monday 15th Feb. It's the new HD box without the HD package. I'm an existing Sky customer so just upgraded. The problem is that the box will not record. It says call the broadcaster for assistance when you press record or pause. The guy that installed it said it should work after 4 hours or if it does'nt ring Sky.I rang Sky and they checked several settings and signal strenghts etc. Sky said they have raised the issue with a senior engineer. They said it could take several weeks before it's fixed. Did anyone else have any problems like this ?

    Welcome to boards, firstly.

Did you grade from Sky+ or normal Sky and is it the new 500GB Box (250/250).

It looks like you are tyring to record a channel you are not paying for (ie. Trying to record Sky Sports 1 without having the Sports package.

Thanks, I must say it's a great site, lots of usefull info.

Yes its the new box. I wanted Sky+ but Sky told me that the ordinary boxes are no longer available. It gives that message on every channel.

I doubt thats the OPs problem, He says when he hits pause he gets the call broadcaster message so it seems the Sky plus features are'nt set up to the card and Sky are obviously having problems getting the signal through which unfortunately can happen from time to time or possibly there is a fault with the hard drive.

I assume Skys tech department went through all the reset procedures with you? Its a bit much for them to tell you it could take several weeks to sort out the problem, you only have the box, demand they take the box away and refund your money unless they sort it out for you in a few days, you're still within your 30 day cooling off period

Ye they went through all the reset procedures. It took me ages to get the box in the first place. I find Sky very hard to deal with, I hear of lots of people complaining about them. I'l ring them again and tell them I want it sorted and tell them to take the box away.

Do new Sky+ boxes give trouble ?

You cannot get a new Sky+ box, from Sky now. Only the Sky+ HD Box.

all they have to do is send a signal to the box. they should do this while you are on the phone to them.. ring them again and just say you want the record function enabled..

Sky tried several times to send the signal but it would'nt work.
I rang Sky today and the operator went through all the same steps,
I was on hold for 10 mins but finally it worked. :D

Thanks to everyone that replied to me
