You need to get accredited, this is a simple process where you are taken around the track and general rules and procedures for cycling on it explained. I THINK they do this on Saturday mornings at this point in the year, it may change as the season gets underway.

The man to talk to is Hugh Byrne, Tel: 086 3488708, E-mail: trackcyclingireland@gmail.com

Accreditation is currently 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month:
    http://www.sundrivetrackteam.viviti.com/

From April they may reduce this to one Saturday a month, but may also add some Friday evening ones

What is the correct pronunciation of "Ceannt"?

Yeah, but it's more of a diphthong ee-ah sound than two separate syllables.

    so...back to bikes!
    do i need a liecence?
can i just turn up next saturday at 10.30 and go?(with my own bike, which has one brake and a bolt on cog)

I think you do need a licence + accreditation if you want to train there with the staff, however, everyone can use it at their own risk when it's free/empty (as i was told )
I have used my own fixie there to race and had to remove the front brake and switch my bars to drops (and switched cogs to a smaller one too ).
And unless you already wear one, you need a helmet.

I understand the next accreditation session is the Saturday after next. I suggest you call Hugh Byrne at the number Blorg gave above. He will be able to fill you in with the details. They have hire bikes, and I would suggest you use these until you find your bearings.

Brakes are not allowed but they have track bikes for hire. Also the gears on regular fixies are a bit low for track racing (according to Hugh last time I was talking to him).
I think you'll need a licence but worth dropping Hugh Byrne above an email to see if you can get a 1 day.
He's as sound a guy as they come BTW.

    just one more question!
can i get accreditation before i get a liecence?cause i just wanna try it out and if i like it il waste more money building a bike just for the track!...

i doubt they let you use risers, you will need to get drops.

As Caroline says, I think you will only be able to use drops. Just hold on to the top of the bars. I have been doing this for 12 years or more riding the Manchester track

Hugh can answer this one, but I have never needed a licence to ride in Manchester (where you need accreditation for some, but not all, sessions, and a licence to race)

Not racing surely. You'll be told to get in the drops during your accreditation I imagine.
