I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum or work and jobs but here goes...
I just think this would be the coolest job EVER :D
I'm just wondering how does one become a tester? I checked the RSA website as well as publicjobs.ie but am still none the wiser.
Also, what exactly does it entail? How many tests do they conduct,on average, each day? And is it true they move aroung to different towns? If so,how often?
I'm very curious and would greatly appreciate any information, as my searches haven't provided me with anything.

    Thank you all kindly. :D

Any Jobs will advertised on Publicjobs.ie. They last took on 12 people in October 2007 as testers. Most of the people that were hired came from the dept of agriculture and a few from SGS. At the moment there is a freeze on hiring staff in the Public Sector, and probaly will be for the forseeable future.

As for a cool job.......Its a very hard job, sitting most of your day in other people car's. The RSA conduct 7 car test a day. however Bus and truck test take longer so the number of tests can be less.

My suggestion to you is to get all your licences from A to E, When they are hiring again in the future they are more likely to hire people who can test the full range of vehicles. (However the people they hired in 2007 didnt need to have the full range of licence's)

People who, as far as you know, probably can't even drive!

Far as I know they do three truck/bus tests, and two car tests in between.

I'd suggest going for the ADI licences too, A, EC and D will cover you. They're not necessary, but it'd probably be an advantage.
