Are you on UPC? I've been having the same problem the last few days, connection seems to drop at random. Annoying as hell.

Try using a different DNS Server or enabling upnp on your router.

Open DNS or Google Public DNS are good options, you just get their dns address, (either one) and replace your ISP's with it in your router settings.

For upnp it should be an option in your router settings also. Just turn it on.

To access your router setting, plug an ethernet cable from your computer to the router and put in the address of your router. It'll be something like 192.168.2.3, just google your router model and it should be easy to find.

Hope some of that helps, Both have fixed issues for me in the past.

None of the above stuff worked.

i have a zyxel 660 router. the problem actuslly was that the router timesout every 20 mins.

there was a timer setting which i set to the maximum. ( 2 hours) so it only drops every 2 hours now

better than nothing. i think i will need a new router.

This is correct. I was on the Eircom website this morning and there were a few complaints about this router dropping out every 20 mins. As you said the best you can do is set it to the maximum of two hours or buy a new router.

At least you have a connection, I've been off for the last two weeks now due to them "upgrading the network".

    Gotta love Eircom!
