Linux mint - log files

I did a clean install of Mint 8 a while back, and partitioned my disks as per this post on the Linux Mint forum. (10Gb root partition, 60Gb home partition)

However my root partition is now full, and the culprit are the logs file, particularly daemon.log and sys.log, totalling about 5.5Gb

So a few questions on this:
    can I truncate the logs?
can I change their location to my home partition?
is 10Gb too small for the root partition?

    Thanks.

    tail /var/log/sys.log

See what is filling up the logs. I had this problem last year and I think it was graphics issues. In the meantime you can delete the logs, even a cron job to delete them until you can fix it. 10 gigs is plenty. Just fix whatever is filling up the log files.
