    Hi,

I'm looking at going on a surfing holiday to Ericeira in Portugal with my husband and our 2 teenagers. Has anyone ever been? I'd like to know if anyone thinks they would be suitable for families?

    Thanks

    Rebecca

Best area in Portugal for surf holidays would be around the Carrapateria/Sagres region...about 1.5 hrs from Faro Airport. Beautiful area and very unspoilt by mass tourism

    Hi Rebecca,

It looks like you are looking at the same holiday as us, we went to Ericeira with surfholidays.com last year for 2 weeks and had a fab time. We had three teenagers with us and they loved the place. There's something about it that makes you feel at home. Its nothing like the Algarve, its much more authentic and real. We stayed in the ecolodges, they are in a beautiful peaceful setting, very tranquil. The town is cull of great restaurtants everywhere and very reasonable too. The summer is about 25 degrees so pack light, and its a laid back place with cobble streets so you dont need high heels or fancy clothes. We did 10 surf lessons in the two weeks and loved every minute of it. The instructors were really great guys ad made us feel really comfortable. I hope you enjoy it, I am jealous already!

    thanks slewis

I've decided to go for it and stay in their ecolodges, it looks like such a nice place and if it can keep the kids happy i'll be delighted!!!

can not recomend this place enough. Lovely fishing village, great surf, fantastic restaraunts. loads to do in the surrounding regions if no surfing. You should check out the palace at mafra for a start, truly amazing.

you will have a great time there

Sorry for the hijack, but would this resort be suitable for a couple who don't surf? We've been to Portugal lots of times, and would like to see some more of the country. We like swimming, spending a couple of hours on the beach, long walks, good restaurants & a few bars for the evening. A place with a bit of life, but not club 18-30. Can you get a bus/train into Lisbon from there?

    Thanks :D

When we booked with them they gave us a welcome pack which had a list of everything to do in the area, the restauranst, bars, attractions. The surf lessons are optional it seems. You wont get bored with Lisbon and SIntra only 45 minutes away. The town has a cliff walk that is lovely and lots of small hidden squares. Its not an 18-30 south of spain type place. much classier and laid back.
