They have a wedding fair tomorrow from 2-6 going to head over for a look. We spotted this place on the net and thought it was gorgeous, still in two minds as it is so far from dublin. Have been on other forums and people have nothing but good things to say about it. Food gorgeous and staff great. The only thing people were saying was that they had to haggle a bit to get the discounted accommodation for guests but i think with nearly every hotel it is cheaper to book online. hth

just seen this by accident, it wasn't a wedding reception, but an awful lot of the wedding party stayed there, as far as i remember the bride and groom, even though not staying there them selves did manage to get a discount for a block booking for a load of us staying there

thought the staff were very accomadting, we were able to check in early before heading to the church and straight to the reception, great residents bar, had a great breakfast, only downfall was no pool to help clear the head

What did you make of fair? i went to it also but got a guided tour last week that was much more helpful than the fair as it was cluttered with people selling stuff imo.

The package were looking at is 65p.p if we can get a few extras in we will prob book it as have been impressed with it.

Perfect location as church were getting married in is 15mins away and its only 40 mins from dublin.

Hi Pokerking, didn't get to go to it. H2b was working and couldn't get anyone to mind the kids, going mad I missed it. At the moment we are stuck between Louis Fitzgerald, Springfield and Annebrook. Louis is handy as a lot of family live in Dublin and will be getting their kids minded in the evening whereas if we have it in Mullingar they will have to bring the kids with them, don't mind at all but you know yourself don't want kids around drunk people at the night part. Would love the annebrook its beautiful.

Let me know if you book it.:D

yeah i know what you mean, we were looking at those venues too but with OH originally based in wetmeath and us living in kildare it was ideal for us and the man showing us around sold us with the extras they do that they dont tell ya about. Will more than likely book it. have you tried leixlip house?we had a look up there was nice too.

Hi pokerking. My bro is having his wedding in the Leixlip House in March so can't have the same. Lovely hotel though.

What sort of extras did you get, out of my list of hotels this one is the cheapest and its the nicest too. so its either go with the hotel I like or go with one to accomadate the family:confused:

Its pretty standard package and im yet to negotiate any other extras etc.

afkasurfjunkie-Whats included in your package for 50e a head? i did think 65/pp was a bit expensive but when we added the few bits we wanted in other places it worked the same price so thats why were strongly considering it. We were going to have it midweek to save money but its a saving of 10e which is 1,000 overall and for the sake of 1,000e id rather have it at weekend personally.

We attended a wedding there in October and really enjoyed it. The reception area in the old house is very nice and the food at the reception was really good (duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce, whole sea bass or lamb and delicious desserts).

The accommodation was really nice and our friends (the bride and groom) had negotiated a two night package (2BB1D) for close friends and family for something like E230 (can't remember exactly). So a gang of us got together for dinner on the second night - which was also really good and served in the restaurant in the cellar.

mine is a fairly similar package.
it is also a weekend wedding in 2011 and includes upgrade to a suite for parents of bride and groom. sparkling wine/mulled wine as well as canapes/tea biscuits for guests on arrival.
    complimentary 1st year anniversary dinner.
complmentary 1 year gym membership for bride and groom.
discount for spa (20%) for bride and groom and 10% discount for guests.
hotel not providing wine but complimentary corkage so il source wine myself.
bar extension is not included but am getting it for 150e, so i guess works out at 1e per guest.
