My girlfriend who has an iphone 3gs 3.2 jailbroken phone gets these messages on her phone. When you click on them they just disappear.

I think she gets them once or twice a day; so a bit annoying.

By the way, these people are no in her facebook friends list. And facebook push notification is OFF!?!

Very strange alright, what version of facebook is she using, i heard last version had some problem, can you go into setting -> facebook -> push-> and see if anything is ticked on?

nothing is ticked in those settings and its always the latest version of facebook that she uses.

Reinstall of facebook is no help

I was reading online few weeks back and not only iPhone, other phones are having facebook virus too, the only solution seem to be restore but wait, some one might have better idea.
I presume it happens if you click some link in facebook app and then it start updating your profile and posting status message.

Do you have any links to substantiate that claim? Throwing out unfounded claims can do more damage than any suspected virus itself.

He's right. The amount of people who proclaim Virus when things just aren't working properly is ridiculous.

Its defiantly not a virus. Its to do with jailbroken phones using the same signature on Apple's servers. Try google, there are a couple of fixes for it. You are just receiving someone else's notifications that have the same signature as you.

Or to be more precise jailbroken phones that have been hacktivated rather than activated with an o2 sim.

I'd say you're spot on with that.

That doesn't make sense as these people aren't even on facebook.

Can you link me to one of these fixes? I have googled a bit, but am probably not entering a sufficiently correct string.

The aren't on your facebook. They're on someone elses, and because the handset is hactivated, you're getting someone elses facebook messages.

Fair enough, but I haven't come across "rocio cairo presepi" on facebook, but since you said that I have looked up the others and come across them.

push notifications and locations are off...

Any of you guys experiencing this problem happen to use " pushfix" at any stage ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,933 ✭✭✭Sniipe

yeah, I did use push fix on her phone to get youtube working.

Personally I don't think it's hactivation causing this issue but Pushfix might.
Pushfix has a major flaw on that it uses the same UDID ( unique device I.D) for all it's users .
You get someones IM they also get yours , yet you don't even know each other

It could be related , I have no suggested fix , unless Pushfix has been rev. and updated I would uninstall.

    Hope this helps.

Do I have any links to something I've heard? Hmmm...I'll need to think about that one. By the way, love the use of substantiate and unfounded. Bravo.

Sweet find mixednuts. I'll give it a go later on this evening. You think I should uninstall the pushfix first? (i didn't have time last night to check the other link)

I wouldnt uninstall anything , it seems this "PUSH DOCTOR" is a resolution/patch to the PUSHFIX problem.

What i would do (if the problem is not to irritating) is sit back and wait a week , see how the masses get on and weed out any bugs .
There is a support forum mentioned on the link i sent you , this should indicate how this patch is performing .
As i said its only out hours and will get a huge uptake .
