hi lads, im planning on getting a newer car than the one i have.

I was thinking of getting something sensible (diesel golf/focus or something), but I want to get something more powerful for maybe a year or 2 before I do that.

I have a 98 corolla 1.6 SR at the minute and want something with around 200bhp but no more than a 2 litre. should cost no more than 8 grand too.

Im 22 with 5 years no claims and full licence for the same length too.

    Any recommendations? :D

Insurance is going to be a killer on a 200+bhp engine, but if I were you I'd go for this baby, it's over 2ltr though.

    0-60 Top Speed BHP
    6.7 s 155 mph 240 bhp

Why do you have a 2ltr limit? - The extra tax for this can be funded by the cheaper initial buy :)

Still miss mine :-( Looks a bit overpriced to me, but there are very few showing up (3 on CBG, non on Carzone). Donedeal might have some.

Insurance should be reasonable and they can be remapped to 210 ish fairly easy I believe.

http://www.carzone.ie/search/Toyota/MR2/Turbo-31/201007196915086/advert?channel=CARS Toyota MR2 with quite a bit more BHP than you are looking for but great car, very quick and looks great and is well within your price range

tbh Im a big fan of japanese cars but would give german cars a go.

Ive had 2 toyotas 2 hondas and a mitsubishi, so would kinda lean more towards another jap car. (not necessesarily an import)

what do you think of dc2 type rx integra, corolla t sport and lancer GSR??

ive never owned anything except a golf, im pretty biased towards them but im guessing the best you could do for under 8k is a 2ltr tdi 170bhp but these are not all that common. wouldnt be in a position to comment on the other stuff u mentioned so i wont bs you and pretend i know!
