Pricing of WWE PPV - Sky Box Office

This is my first post in the wrestling forum.
I've followed the game for many a year but only really get to watch the PPV's lately.
Delighted to see SOS getting such a huge push.

Anyway, I see Sky are charging €22 for the EC PPV.
I wonder if the reduced buy rates of PPV's is down to the laws of diminishing returns.
If they were priced at €10 or €15 do you think the buy rates would increase to make up the shortfall ?.
Or is that most people torrent/rapidshare them for free a few days later anyway so it doesn't make any odds.

That would more likely be the morning after then a few days I'd say but I'd honestly lean on no, it would not make up for it. The reason being a fiver in difference is very unlikely to sway anyone who's ready to sit up all night watching it in the first place. The market is simply not big enough to make up the difference (and this assuming that Sky don't have a fixed cost per viewer for the PPV).

We have it lucky over here tbh
€22 isn't that much compared to U.S $45 and they're plagued with ad breaks during the house shows.
I only buy The Rumble, Summerslam and Wrestlemania now anyway. I'l add MITB to that next year.

Agreed, I really imagine that the amount of Irish that pirate PPVs that would've paid for it otherwise is really, really low. Same here, I'd just buy the big ones.

I imagine that the amount of people buying gained from charging 5-10 euros less wouldn't add up to the amount of revenue gained otherwise. Plus there'd be a drop off if you increased it back to 22ish.

I wouldn't mind paying more for PPVs (in theory lol) if it were on at a decent hour. I'd just get lots of people around and everyone chip in a 5. Or go to a local bar and watch it for free :):)

Talking out of turn...that's a paddling. Looking out the window...that's a paddling. Staring at my sandals...that's a paddling. Talking about PPV Prices...ooh, you better believe that's a paddling.

To be fair, people in the US do get to watch live it at a more reasonable time than us.

Me and a friend of mine watch all the PPVs, and we pay for them too :P

Only ones I've missed in the last 2 years were the Summerslams. I'm yet to see that live.

Thats what most people do i reckon. I haven't paid for a PPV for quite a while now. Plus if I actually paid for ALL the PPV's in the year, mrs batman would have me out on my ear!

My brother-in-law downloads them & watches them the following night.
He's often invited me around but I'd normally ask him just to make me a copy.
The missus frowns on it but I'm not sure whether that's the illegal copy or grown men watching wrestling.

i buy most PPV's but i do think its kinda annoying that all the PPV's are so expensive. 22 quid is still 22 quid. if you buy all the PPV's its over 200 quid(because the couple that are on sky sports 1).

i have no problem paying for them but some PPV's are just complete ****e in fairness. no build up to them. no real plots or fueds(or at least no proper fueds). paying for some of them just makes me think about just finding other means of watching.................. dont get me wrong im not into stealing PPV's but i feel like they are robbing me with some of the crap we've had to pay for. i bought EC and i will always buy the big events but if EC doesnt impress(although im sure it will i cant remember the last PPV i couldnt wait for) but if it is a massive fail then WWE are about to lose my PPV cash.....................................

Since they are gone all pg and stuff and kids arent allowed stay up till all hours do you think they should look into putting it on say on sunday evening? I know they have repeats but if parents seen say 9pm instead of 2am then they would be more likely to buy it.

They could still have a live showing for everyone late teens - adults and perhaps give the live one at a reduced rate, and then on another sky channel have the family friendly time show.

I'll likely be getting in WM. Aside from that I dont get in ppvs. If im up ill catch a stream but if its something i really want to see ill get it in if i can. If the price was a tenner id order them more frequently. Actually id order most of them.

    .

No because that would mean changing the start time in the US.

Ill order every PPV from Sky, simply because Ive no interest in torrents and that kind of thing and I have to see the ppvs live anyway.

Sorry what i meant was even though it would go out live in the US as normal mayeb they should cater for the kids over here. I assume they are going pg to hit the mainstream audience, and in turn i would assume that young kids wouldnt be on boards that much or keeping in touch with it in depth so it wouldnt ruin the live experiece for them if it was advertised for the next day / evening.

In conjunction with this they could have it going out at 2am sat night / sunday morning as well but since the mainstream market and the smarket are two different animals maybe their treatment of ppv's should take this into account?

My gripe is with Skys exchange rate on the Euro against the Pound
