What car is it? Does it have an immobiliser?

If you tell us what make & model then we might be able to tell you whether it has an immobiliser.

How about a nice big chain and padlock around the steering wheel and seat mountings?

I'd take the battery out too if it was me as well as steering wheel lock and hand brake to gear stick lock.

Stick locks are very hard to break.

Steering wheels that the stick lock is attached to on the other hand are easy with a hacksaw.

    It's peugeot 206 hatchback

It'll have an immobiliser so - they can't steal the car easily without the keys, and no professional car thief who may know how to get past the immobiliser (if it is possible) is going to target something like that.

Of course it could still be broken into, and alloys could be stolen

You don't need to make your car unstealable, just less attractive to a thief than the car parked next to you. This is where chains / steering wheel locks, etc... come into their own.

So the concern is now to protect the alloys which can be protected by wheel lock.

Are there lock nuts on the alloys?

If you're talking about getting 4 clamps, I'd say that would be quite expensive for anything really effective.

That's brillient, I didn't imagine that we can install lock nuts, if alloys are not with lock nuts, how much woud it cost to replace any idea?

€20-€30 for a set of lock nuts. There are ways to defeat these too, though. Don't lose the special 'key' that comes with them!

Take off the wheels and leave it on blocks. Nobody can nick something that's not there and nobody's gonna take it for a joyride.

Any good Motor Factors (try Consort if you're in Dublin northside) or even *spit* Halford's will have a catalogue listing locknuts for almost all makes/models of car.

Don't know when they open (guess 9 am?), but they close at 6pm. Give them a call 01 8375684.

Alloys are without locking nuts, I went to Consort; peugeot 206 is not in their catalogue so need to pull out one bolt from the wheel and show to them to get the right ones. The set is of four nuts one for each wheel costing €35. BTW I am wondering is it yet easy to steal the alloys with the locking nuts installed?

I've dealt with this company before, very quick and cheap postage from the uk

    http://www.saundersonsecurity.co.uk/acatalog/Car_Caravan_Security.html

I got one of these for £60 - postage was an extra 15
very cheap considering you'll pay €140 most places here

I originally got one of those Botelli steering bar things (€20-ish) but it didn't look too safe,
and it would have ripped the leather steering wheel so now I rest it on the handbrake as a visual deterrent

Another thing which I forgot about till now would be a bright battery operated led
like you'd get with a decent aftermarket alarm that flashes every 2 seconds
need to have a look on ebay or just make one myself

It is possible to defeat the locking nuts with some effort/ingenuity, but I'd say that most thieves wouldn't bother, because it would take longer and might involve making some noise. Unless your wheels are rare/expensive, I'd be happy with the locking nuts.

If Consort don't have a listing for your nuts, you might try Halfords in Coolock (just past the UCI cinema on the left-hand side of the road).

I bought the locking bolts from Consort, €35 (Graystone) a set of 4. Locking bolt's head was little bit bigger but fitted well.
Looked on ebay, it's quite cheaper than halfords, McGard locking botls costs €32 including postage where as the same in halfords are €50

Make a note of the key socket's reference number (and the manufacturer's address/phone no.), just in case you mislay the socket.
