ACCA F5 - Is it the hardest? and which College?

    Hi All

I know these type of questions are not popular, but I'll ask anyway! :)

I can only take one subject (F4 to F9) this semester, so I reckon I should try and take the toughest one! I know this is a bit subjective, but I've heard that F5 is one of the hardest (based on pass rates) fundamental exams.

Would people generally agree with this from your own experience?

I am considering either DBS or Independent Colleges. The timetable for F5 suits me better with Independent Colleges and they are gaining a good reputation. However, for F5 they use IFP text books (not Kaplan or BPP). My concern is that IFP are not an official ACCA publisher!

Has anybody used IFP text books and how would you rate them?

Does anybody have strong opinions on which college / lecturer they would recommend for F5?

    Thanks!

I've completed F5 - F9 with DBS and I consider F8 to actually be the hardest! But it all depends on how you prefer learning as they are all very different subjects. None of them are easy mind!

Thanks! Yeah, I agree none of them will be easy! Especially looking at the global pass rates you posted!!

Another reason for choosing F5 is that I've just completed F2 so the basics are still relatively fresh in my head!

My main concern is Independent Colleges use of IFP text books, as they are not an official ACCA publisher!

Has anyone used IFP before or attended Independent Colleges for F5?

I went there last term, they were ok.
The lecturer has a good reputation but i wasn't that impressed with him.

The book situation was a bit odd. We got 4 books first day (in addition to a book of past-papers during the reveision days).

F5 is easy enough to understand, there's a huge syllabus though

It varies from person to person which subject they find harder. I found F5 &
    F7 tough but I was good in F8, P1 & P3 because I can waffle (educated waffle :D ).

Your going have to do it sometime so why not now. As far as your timetable and college, I know Independant have a good reputation but not sure if the lecturer is any good. Best of luck anyway!

I did F5 in Independant College with Mick Bristow and thought he was quite good. Also wouldn't consider it to be too bad a subject either, it's just the exam that's tough, not the material. If you can do F2 there's no reason you should struggle too much with F5. If you do the work you'll pass

F5 was very easy compared to tax and law.

F5 is tricky but the new format of 5 questions makes it a little easier to pass as you have 1 question from each section of the syllabus. The logical steps would be as you say F2->F5 and then F9 as F4->F7->F8.
