This is the first time I’ve seen Sky offer the HD pack for free (see attached image for proof). Even if we are not eligible for this offer, hopefully it’s a sign of potential offers in the future.

savage. if that was in Ireland i would definitely buy

Ah balls to that anyways, was actually looking forward to getting this deal.

As an existing customer, I'd love to be able to get a HD box with no HD pack sub. I'd pay for the box/installation or whatever though.

I love how all Sky deals seem to be new customers only. I keep getting leaflets offering the HD box for free, but the installation is €30 for new customers and €60 for existing customers. How nice, you may have been making money out of me as a customer for the last x number of years, but hey, charge me double, I don't mind.

So what exactly do you get for 25 a month, channel wise ?

[edit] Should have read on. So its not for ROI ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭keith_d99

You can now - for €99 plus €60 installation.

As a non sky customer I would get sky HD if there was no extra HD subscription.
But since there is ....... Sky can keep their HD offers.

Yeah I saw that but it's the extra €15 per month that I'm not interested in.

yeap. its the €15 a month is making it a non-runner with me!

Anyone try and ring the Irish phone number and see if they could get this deal ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,933 ✭✭✭keith_d99

I'm with ye on that one - the price I quoted above (60 + 99) - is for the Sky HD without having to take out the sub! Box is free when you sign up for the sub for 12 months

You would get the freeview HD channels (BBC HD, ITV HD ..) but no HD channels on the EPG.

Even if Sky threw in HD package for free if you took out sports/movies like they used to do with Sky+ charge a few years back, I would get it.

I've always said that I'd gladly pay €30 per month for a package that included all the HD channels.

But, for example, if you're into HD Sports, you have to subscribe to the Sports 1 pack, Sports 2 pack, and then the HD pack, to get your HD sports.

When I had HD, I never watched the SD equivalent of the HD channels, so paying for them makes no sense.

if you look at the link, its €99 for the box, €60 for the installation and no monthly subscription

Is it definite that this offer can not be availed of by Rep. Irish users?

I tried ringing Sky there a few mins ago, got put through to someone who seemed completely clueless - wouldn't even let me give him the reference number to check the offer and proceeded to try and offer me a "unique offer just for you" of E99 for the Sky+ HD Box and just E49 for installation and no 1/2 price subscription, and all from the very bottom of his heart I'm sure too..

So you get a HD box without HD. No thanks.

You'll get BBC HD. Sky don't seem likely to drop the subscription anytime soon so it's a good offer under the circumstances.

Sure i can BBC HD and ITV HD free anyway. Freesat. Got it a while agi, thanks to boards advice.
Why would i sign a contract with sky. Now if they offered all their channels with no €15 on top of the normal sub, that might be worth thinking about.

That's fair enough but I don't understand why you are contributing to this thread if you have no interest in sky? I'm not being snotty but it is a bargain thread about the sky HD receiver and it is a bargain.

If you read what i said, i said I am interested in Sky HD ... if they drop the €15 a month charge.

Wouldn't be the first time they did that....and it won't be the last.
More competition & more Subscribers in the UK.

Just a heads up - I rang sky to cancel some of the packs I had on my account, and she says that from tomorrow onwards, they need 31 days notice, so if, like me, you've been procrastinating, today is the day.

Yeah the UK website had an 8 gig FREE iPod (worth about 180 euros) offer last month if you sign up a friend. But the Irish offer was just 50 euro cheque when you sign up a friend.
Pity cause I signed up my brother only last month :(

I dunno if anyone has actually got this offer or not, but hearing people say that they'd avail of this offer if only they weren't existing customers (as the offer is only for new ones).
When they offerred sky+ box for free w/ 1/2 price for any package and this was for new customers, all I had to do was to ring up, cancel, and re-subscribe as a new customer the next day. Same address, same bank account number, different name (say of a wife or somethin), worth a look if anyone's interested, I know for a fact it works, did it myself

I would love this for the HD, but i wont be getting it unless the HD does not require further payment on top of the normal subs.

But did you sign up with Sky? This was a company who were Sky agents. The advert was in a free paper. I will try find more if it is still available.

Edit it is very possible I got this wrong. I will find out soon.

Sorry guys. The offer was 30 euro for Sky HD box, including installation, dish ect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭Slick50

I just spoke to SKY on 0818 762 872, I am an existing customer, and told them that I was tired of getting special offers shoved in my letter box for new customers. He offered me the new Sky+/HD ready box, at the same price (free plus 30 euro installation) without looking for new friends, or canceling my subscription. So give them a call. The basic package you have to sign the contract for is 22 euro, the HD is 15 euro extra per month.

I tried this and was told it was 159 unless I took out a 12 month subscription to hd @15 per month. It was 30 for the installtion then, box was free.:(

I have been a Sky customer 4 years and had sports all that time.
Some way to treat customers alright.
