Not quiet sure if this is the right forum but it must be the closest...

Myslf and the OH met on a foreign holiday in September 2007 (she is English and lives in England) and have maintained a long distance relationship since then.

I am moving over there in June and we are getting married in August. 4 week Honeymoon in South East Asia booked etc.

Her first trip over here was in November 2007 and she brought me a bottle of Laurent Perrier Rose Champagne which I still have unopened in my bedroom. It has a lot of sentimental value which is why I have never opened it.

Just looking for any thoughts on when to open it with her:

    a. On our wedding night?
    b. On our Honeymoon?
    c. Our first anniversary?
    d. The birth of our first child (if we are blessed)?
    e. Never?

Some feedback or thoughts would be nice.

    Thanks:)

Aw, that's such a lovely idea. Congratulations as well!

I'm not familiar with Champagne, will it keep for ages? If I was her, I would be blown away if you produced it on your first wedding anniversary.
It would seem as if you knew all along that you'd be married :)

    So romantic!!!

when you retire and you are still as much in love then as you are now!

    (might taste like vinegar then!!)

seriously though - very romantic that you kept it and that it means so much to you.

    Honeymoon!

I'm not sure how long it will last but i wouldn't leave it too long!
There is usually lots of champagne around at weddings so i wouldn't do it that night. I think bring it on honeymoon and have it on your first night!

That is so sweet, does she know you have it? I would check how much longer it will last so that ye can drink it and then decide if there is a time limit! Honeymoon or first anniversary would be lovely.

    Ah young love!:D

As far as I know some champagnes have dates whereas others are mor elike wine, obviously I am far from knowledgeable about it but I just know I had a bottle of Ferrari champagne, very large expensive bottle which was bought for me. I decided to keep it for a special occasion but didnt know when so it sat in my kitchen for a couple of years. It would be nice to share it with your fiancee but I dont know if you should plan on when to share it, I think you will just know when the time is right. I kept a bottle given to me and here is how I used it.

I had been to my Grandads 80th in a restaurant around 07 and in 09 my Nannies 80th was set for the same plave. During the course of those 2 years a lot of things had happened, ups and downs, I had been married which was the up but my uncle had faught and beat cancer, my mam had seperated, my sister had been in intensive care, my aunt had seperated and I thought, hell these last 2 years have been a struggle for the family since we last sat together so why not celebrate that everyone has come through smiling.

I wouldnt mind but I was driving so I couldnt enjoy it but I stood at the top of the table and mentioned that so many had come through so much since last we met and I thought it was an honourable moment for me to open the champagne, to toast everyone and the fact that after everything, we were all there sat side by side again. I have to say my uncle quite enjoyed the champagne that night, of everyone he had the hardest time since we last met and I think it was worth holding on to just to see him healthy and enjoying a nice glass of bubbly, or 3, or 4.....

I've been told by people in the know that champagne has a shelf life of between a year and a half and two years, you might get three out of a very very good brand. I'd say the sooner the better?
