Grow up, for god's sake. This is standard journalistic lingo for this kind of thing, and not confined to RTE, or to licence fee supported broadcasters. Look at the way the American media refuse to call the Republicans on all the lies they told about the Democrat's health care proposals.

Besides, if you've listened to the News at One for the last couple of days, the last thing you would say is that RTE are going easy on FF - Sean O'Rourke effectively dismembered O'Dea yesterday.

Maybe you can help us, what word should they use?
"Lie" would be inappropriate as O'Dea claimed to have made a mistake. A lie needs to be deliberate and he claims it is not, so using the word "lie" would not be impartial reporting.

How stupid does RTE think the public are?
Maybe they think the public are clever enough to work it out themselves.

I personally will demand the refund of my licence fee if John Giles can't remember the name of a player anymore and has to ask Eamon Dunphy...grrr

RTE refer to the murder of a Hamas member in Dubai as a "killing".

    Of course they are biased.

Technically it was a killing. And what would the use of the term "killing" show bias towards?

RTE News is excellent, professional and unbiased! They have to be.

In the evening in our house we like to watch the news. Sometimes we're a bit early and watch a bit of "TV3 News". Then we switch over and watch "The News".

6.1 was always the news and always will be. We should be thankful we have it.
