Apologies if this is the wrong place for this but....

I have a hotmail account and I discovered it has been hacked
into if that's the right phrase.

My password would not work and i had to fill in the scurity question
    to set a new one.

When I opened my account, emails to my inbox had been opened.

I was quite shocked by this but then I realised how stupidly simple I had left my password reminder question even though it asks for location but I think this is quite easy to find out. I actually have my suspicions as to who might have been at it but of course I cannot prove it.

Sooo...is it possible for me to somehow find out where the account was hacked from?

If someone accesses your email is it a case of tough luck or can you actually do anything about it?

Last account activity: 39 minutes ago on this computer. Details

i can see the IP address of the last computers that logged in (or at least their visible address if they were proxied)

    Hi,

I looked here: https://account.live.com/helpcentral.aspx?mkt=EN-US at the support website for hotmail. Here is the advise given from them:

An unauthorized person has used your Windows Live ID to sign in to Windows Live ID sites or services

Report to Microsoft if any of the following occur:
    • You suspect that someone has used your Windows Live ID (The e-mail address and password that you use to sign in to Windows Live programs and services such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger; Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE, MSN, and Office Live; and anywhere else that you see the Windows Live ID logo.) to sign in to Windows Live ID sites or services.
    • You suspect a website that appears to offer a Windows Live ID sign-in page may be fraudulent.
    • You receive suspicious e-mail about your Windows Live ID.
When you report the issue, be sure to include your full name, your Windows Live ID, an e-mail address where you want Microsoft to send the response, and a complete description of the issue.
If you believe that someone else has signed in with your Windows Live ID, you can reset your password, change your alternate e-mail address (An alternate e-mail address is a secondary e-mail address registered with your Windows Live ID. If you forget your password, you can have the password reset information sent to your alternate e-mail address.) , change your question and secret answer (A question and secret answer allows you to choose a question from a select list and enter your personal answer to that question. If you forget your password, you can verify your identity by providing with some limited profile information and the correct answer to your secret question.) , or report the issue to Microsoft.
