Hi I've got a Hauppauge HVR-4000 and I'm getting all the channels available through the sat input but can't get ITV HD. I've done a scan with the frequency entered but its not finding any channels, anyone any idea why?

Because ITVHD is transmitted with some of the PIDs missing (a sort of pseudo-encryption employed because it is transmitted from a transponder with a pan-European footprint) so most receivers either detect it as a data channels or completely ignore it.

Windows Media Centre finds it when you enter your Irish location settings - labelled as 10510

Umm I've done several searches on 11427, 27500 H but 10510 has never come in, it doesn't find anything on that frequency?

In media centre or in the Hauppage WINTV app? Media center finds it.
Some apps see it as a data feed and dont tune it as TV.

in media centre, i scan all known transponders and it always comes in.
i still wont add it to my guide tho.
it has next to zero content, its a pain to tune in, cant be recorded from (scheduled) and frequently breaks up.

In Media Centre, shows full green bars for signal on the frequency but didn't find any channels, subway I only want it for some soccer matches e.g. FA CUP like Villa and Palace last week

on the off chance that it has been found but isnt showing up for some reason, you might also try to install guidetool http://1geek1tool.com/guidetool and see if you can find it in your services.

it should show up around channel 1300 (iirc) it will be called 10510, but number as something else

This is what happened for me when I set up win7 yesterday.

Worth noting the channel only shows content at certain times http://www.itv.com/channels/hd/weeklyhdschedule/default.html
