    1) yes.

2)If you already have sky you can get a hd box free. (excluding install) have a look at the threads.

    3)Yes Richersounds have them

    4) you will have to get a new lnb and run another cable from the dish.

you can still use the existing feed but you wont be able watch one channel and record another channel,

Also if you changed the lnb you can use the existing box in another room.

you could get someone to do it for you .

The cheaper Edision argus mini 2in1 could be an option for you " http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055792912 ". I think you'll be able to get Free-sat HD channels and RTE DTT. Board member slegs is selling them, he'll be able to advise you fully as to it's suitability for your requirements.

Just to let you know free-sat HD is just free-sat with BBC-HD running for most of the day and the just odd occasional program on ITV-HD. I've heard some receivers have issues with ITV-HD due to the ways it's transmitted so be sure to ask about receiving it.

A sky HD box with no card will also work for free-sat, you'll only need one feed, the second feed on a sky HD box is for recording . No need to change your current set-up if you go that route but you can't use the record function and no RTE.

    Hope this helps

@ John mac , your correct about that.

But even if DDT isn't available in his area board member slegs is selling them for 149 euro with a 3 year warranty at his shop, this looks like really good value :- http://www.saortv.com/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=68. I'd go for one myself but I'm already sorted.

Looking at the screen shots on the product page it can tune in ITV HD with no problems.

Edit : Slegs pre-configures the boxes for ITV HD :- http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055832462

Lets not forget that it also has an 8 Day EPG and on the BBC channels at least, Digital Text.

Also, a Freesat box will update itself when new channels are added or when old channels change their parameters, a FTA receiver generally does not do that.

The Edision Argus Mini 2in1 looks like a great product, and I would be interested in one myself, but the now and next EPG on Sat. (not the fault of the box), is off putting.

Can anybody give me a steer here please?
If I replace a regular digibox (currently used for Freesat with a white Sky card) with a Sky+HD box the only extra I would get is BBC HD. Would I be continue to receive Fiver, FiveUSA and the other channels I get with the white card? Thanks.

@hansov : If your using a Sky FTV card with a SKY HD box you'll have the all the current channels you receive plus BBC-HD , ITV-HD(not much on this) and I think Channel 4 HD. ITV-HD might only be available through the services other channels option I don't have the setup your looking at so it might be best to have it confirmed by somebody who does.

As above, SkyHD box will give you BBCHD, C4HD, Fiver, Five US on the EPG with a white FTV card as well as ITVHD in Other Channels.

I too can confirm the above works a treat..When itvhd is tuned in, just press "services,9,5 and enter to watch ITVHD.

The Mvision combo receiver will give you RTE DTT and the UK free on satellite channels, aerial and dish needed

the Technomate TM7100 triple tuner will give you the RTE DTT and with 2 satellite tuners and up a 1TB sata drive it is the ultimate satellite receiver available today, aerial and 2 cables from sat dish needed

the Humax Foxsat will give you the UK freesat channels with 7 day epg,,,,one cable from sat dish needed,,,,,,,,,, and the Humax Foxsat HD PVR 320GB will give you the full UK freesat package , 7 day guide and 320gb of TV storage,,,2 cables from sat dish needed

the Sagem DTR94500S HDR is very similar to the Humax Foxsat hd pvr , same twin tuners same 7 day Freesat epg but the Sagem has 500GB of internal storage,,,,2 cables from sat dish needed.

2 feeds preferable but it will work perfectly well with one cable and you can watch one channel and record a few others once they are on the same band which most of the main ones actually are. The +1's are actally on different bands so it helps around this situation

You'll prob. all laugh at the stupidity of this question but does the Humax work with NTL?

I predict a deluge of "are you stupid?" replies so sorry in advance!

NTL-cable, sky/freesat etc=satellite as a simple explanation. Bit like trying to put windows on an apple mac

Lots of people put windows on their Macs since Boot Camp was introduced to run Windows native apps.
