Cancellation of God of War ultimate edition in Europe??

Hi all,

Was just in gamestop in Longford after deciding to order the snazzy ultimate edition god of war pandora's box set thingy, and they told me that the european version of it was cancelled.

They claimed that the US version is the only one coming out now due to unprecedented demand, but I thought this was a europe only version?!?

Anyone able to shed light on this??

Haven't heard anything myself. The American and Euro versions are different though. Euro version has the GOW collection in it and the US version doesn't, sounds like bull.

Okay I've been researching a little too, I can't find the european version of ultimate edition anywhere now online. The US version as you state does seem to just have God of War 3 and not the collection, which puts me off a bit, and it seems to be freely available on ebay at the moment.

Annoying that, 'cause if the us version had the collection with it I'd be ordering right now!!

Is this game region free? I know the collection is but will GoW3 be?

Ah, okay, I'm new to the console (since August last) and was told by a friend that 'most were', perhaps he was mistaken, good!

Regarding games, the only case of region locking that I have seen was the demo of Uncharted accidentally being locked to North American PS3 owners.

Okay so I caved and bought the god of war 3 ultimate edition on ebay together with the god of war 1 + 2 collection, along with a friend who also bought from the same supplier to cut the costs of delivery.

Loving the pandora's box design, anyone know if you can get kratos statues anywhere?

Now roll on march!!!

As far as I'm aware the GoW Ultimate Edition is exclusive to Game over here. Unfortunately it now seems to be sold out (the link to the item from my pre-order isn't working) so your best chance is to either try and get one from the US or on eBay after launch.

As for the differences between both versions, the PAL UE has the GoW Collection, player skins (DLC) and postcards whereas in place of these, the US edition has the God of War: Unearthing the Legend Franchise documentary.

The Ultimate edition has not been cancelled in Europe it is just that Gamestop did not have the rights to sell it. I have not been contacted about my pre-order from Game.co.uk and they are usually very sharp about contacting you about even a release day change. If you search google for info about it there was a forum on the Playstation site when they unveiled the UE box art and the last page of comments is basically Irish people talking about bogus info from Gamestop.

I'd almost be a relief if it were cancelled/sold out. I want it...but I can't really afford it. Getting the Collection from the US and the standard edition of 3 would be a bit more bearable (especially since it comes out so close to FFXIII).
