I pay 380 a month for a bedroom and access to a communal kitchen, bathroom and living room.. i.e I rent jus like most of ye.

For an extra couple of hundred in taxes, I get infrastructure, a police force, heathcare, education, welfare, museums, art galleries etc. etc.

I bitch and moan about taxes just like everyone else but we do actually get alot for our money.. Especially when compared to what we pay on rent or mortgages.. Am I just having a really good day and being optimistic or do I have a point? Most of us don't hav it that bad.

    380, what a rip off.

    I pay 300, I'm thrifty.

What about all the money that the government wastes though?
    And the over priced...eh..everything?

You get all those things for your taxes but the quality of them isn't great. The roads are shíte, the education system is declining in terms of results from students, the health system is a mess and the police force enforce a judicial system that is a joke.

You know i agree with most of that. Except.....the roads aren't ****e anymore. They're pretty good these days. There's the tunnel. There's an M50 that actually works. There's motorway all the way to Galway. Theres motorway most of way to cork and limerick. Roads in Donegal still suck thou

They should just put a tax on begrudgers and we'd be richer than Saudi Arabia!

I'm paying €220 for a pretty nice house in Galway, came with half a tank of oil and a ludricious amount of cleaning products and cushy seats. The girl living here wants us all to raise the rent cuz she stays in the biggest room in the house with her BF and she thinks its unfair.

We all pay equal rent & I sleep in a tiny room, she can kiss my arse!! :pac: (Bitch also owes me her deposit which I covered her for, innocent fool that I am!)

€380 is a bit much, no?

I pay 200 a month to live in a spacious one bedroom apartment in Mary Harney's anus. As the price suggests, there are some drawbacks during bowel movements but that's only once a year and nothing a bit of Fabreze can't take care of.

    WINish!

Nobody would mind tax as much as they do know if there wasn't the waste we've seen recently, i.e. bank bailouts, fas, an ceann chomhairle etc. and the inefficencies in our tax system and government . . .

    Dublin Rent is crazy.

How can anyone be happy to pay more than 50% of the weekly money on Rent.

Life wasn't supposed to be so stressful.

You may be happy to pay that now, but if you lose your job, get ill, have a family etc - what then?

I'd rather crash in a plane and live on an island for the rest of my life.

Walk the beach, pick fruit from the trees, catch fish and for liquid the juice from one of these will do fine:

    ...

Theres motorway most of way to cork and limerick.

Since when does "half the way" become "most of the way" ? Dublin to Portlaoise, and 4 miles near Nenagh.

And whenever the remainder is eventually completed, it'll be tolled.

And it also depends where you're coming from, because there's no motorway between any of the other cities, with the (single ?) exception of about 10 miles between Limerick and Galway.

So I can safely say that there's no "motorway to Cork".

Ah, I know the gaffs you're on about, great view if you have the top room! :pac: Still, €380 is way too rich for my disease-ridden blood!

Well isn't that lovely for Dublin, the roads everywhere else are in a mess. They're 20 years out of date falling apart and when they come to fix them they do a quick patch job costing I don't know how much and 9 months later the road is as bad or worse again.

It's choking the life out of any chance we have of developing and modernising.

    Pretty cool bro'
Don't know if I would like the communal kitchen, bathroom and living room though.
    I likes my privacy.

    My situation.....

    I pull in €5400 a week

I am chauffeured about in a Mercedes E-Class which was worth €72,000 at the time of purchase. I also have a €150,000 Mercedes S-Class waiting for me when I want it.

I can bed down in a Lodge on situated on an estate with private gardens of 78 acres near the Phoenix Park. Although it's been recently renovated, at a cost of nearly €600,000, I don't really bother my arse living there.

Oh, and I get all the I get infrastructure, police force, healthcare, education, welfare, museums, art galleries, that I want.

    Bye for now,
    your friend,
    Brian Cowen.

My rent is far more expensive than any of the above. But I have more than one source of income, so I don't mind. It's a nice area too with good amenities. I don't pay for electricity, gas, internet or TV, and I get most of my food quite cheaply. I think it's worth it.
