Learner Permit application questions

I'm applying for a learner permit in category C, in section 13 of the application form it asks: "Have you previously held a learner permit?"

What are the talking about here? I held a provisional licence before I passed my car test, should I tick yes? Or are they only talking about learner permits for the same category as you are applying?

Also, it states you must bring your full licence when applying for the learner permit - do they take it off you?

    Thanks

Cheers but the form then asks what was the validity period of your last learner permit. I can't remember for the life of me when I applied for the B provisional or how long I had it?

If it was your first or second, it was two years. If it was your third (or subsequent) then it could have been one or two years, depending on whether you failed a test and then got it, or if you got it to do your test.
