Tell us more - you've got a deck ? and a mixer? and you want to have other tracks on a sampler, you can mix in?

Different hardware samplers can be very different from each other.

One to lift tracks off the deck and play em i guess k

A sample may not be the thing for you. They're more for making music than playing it back. They do look cooler than laptops and if you have a few, with their flashing lights it does look a lot cooler.

Samplers though have much shorter memories - you're much more constrained for space.

If it's whole tracks you'd be better off with a laptop and some software.

If you really want one - get a Boss SP 505 or a Roland SP 555 (Roland and boss are the same company - the samplers are different versions of the same thing)

There are DJs who use the SP 555 - you can do cool stuff with it, if you've an idea what you're doing.

Do some of the higher end mixers not have that build in?

Look into getting a laptop - the guys here could probably give you good advice on that (I'd like to know too). For what you want to do, you may not need much. There's pretty decent laptops you can pick up very cheaply or even second hand.

Yeah, they have flaky little gimmicky samplers - they're pretty useless. The pioneer CD/MP3 decks are more or less the standard.

Not everyone can afford these things - they're pretty expensive. I think you're looking at the best part of 2 grand or more to kit yourself out with Pioneers and a decent mixer and monitors/speakers.

Got a 3 channel Rane Empath, outdates the one with serato built into it so dont think it has. Checked out the Roland thing, might get away with it!
