    Hi Max,

I did the course a couple of years ago. I think it is worth doing. Although knx is a hard sell at the moment, in domestic situations anyway. I've been looking at getting into the commercial side for a while now. Couple of big knx jobs on in the country at the moment and I think it will definately become more common if not the norm for building management systems.

Few places in Ireland running the course now. Don't know how much it costs, and don't forget you'll have to buy ETS yourself after your certified. The software is free to download from knx.org but you will have to buy a license for it and this will cost you about €900 on top of what you pay for the course. The license is available in the form of a dongle which is very handy as you can work on projects at home on your desktop and then on site with your laptop without having to license twice.

Anyway best of luck if you decide to do it..

I'm thinkin of uping my skills as well, is there any other courses out there that would be worth while doing, or would I be better off going to collage and doing the electrical engineering course all together

I found the course pretty straight forward. It mainly covered lighting and blinds/shutters which is fairly straight forward anyway as in on/off, up/down. Lot of theory as well which mightn't seem all that important at first but once you start troubleshooting projects (and you will be troubleshooting) you need to know what your looking at to solve the problems. You definitely need a few smaller projects under your belt to fully understand how to approach a bigger project properly. When you've done the course yourself I'd be able to give you some pointers. No point right now as you wouldn't know what I'm talking about. Once you are certified, knx manufacturers will bring you on their own courses on their products and this is really where you will learn to get the most out of the devices and what they are capable of.

When are you booked in to do it..
