Not sure if this has been covered somewhere else, but here goes...

We're having a wedding abroad in a few months, and will be going for a DJ rather than a band. I'm not sure what kind of DJ we'll be getting there, so I was going to put some good wedding music on a CD just in case.

Any suggestions for essential wedding songs?! Especially some Irish related music?

i used ta love her & N17 sawdoctors,
sweet little rock n roller & good looking woman joe dolan,
galway girl (take your pick of artist but orig by steve earle is my fav for playing )
    fast stuff by the pogues
All the good 80s/90s..wheres me jumper etc.. google tom dunnes best of irish and read the play lists. then again if you jsut want diddley eye play the theme tune to riverdance. thats all youll need.

talk to DJ beforehand though email, they love their europop over there, careful with that stuff, not very irish at all... Ive DJ'd and been at a foreign wedding and they're not like over here.

get a few sample lists just give him a few guides on what you want..ie, pick 3-4 that you like from each genre and send to him, that will guide him.

I'm a wedding dj, if you like I can email you a pretty comprehensive list of songs that are popular at Irish weddings. I use this to send to clients who make enquiries to show them what they can expect to hear if they book me. PM me an e-mail address if you want me to send it to you.

    I used www.prodjs.org

I cannot recommend them enough. They have been used at all of my friends weddings and they can do absolutely anything you want. Including your bit of irish.

I think Greg is the guy I had - he was fantastic.

I have a word document of the popular music picked over the years for DVD's. Some of those may be suitable. If you want it i can PM you.
