If you have a great idea but haven't got the funding to go with it, you should definitely check out this site! The President has set it up in order to try and generate jobs in Ireland and there is prize money of €200,000 for the best ideas up for grabs. I don't personally have anything to do with this, it just popped up on my Twitter this morning so just said I'd share it with fellow boardsies! Happy proposalling :)

Hate to be a party pooper but the reward in this latest scheme if for TWO people only. We are looking at two schemes around the 100k level - so the costs of preparing an initial submission might be pretty high for the average person. Another point to bear in mind, from the 50 odd thousand entries in the previous "big scheme" to create jobs I have seen only one reference to action on a free travel scheme for tourists (which would be handled by existing staff anyway) the rest appears to be promises to look at on the part of Government..

My proposal that we abandon state support for the Irish language was removed because it was not compatible with the objectives of the site: develop opportunities for investment, employment and consequently prosperity in Ireland.

So before your make a proposal you should check with the thought police if it is a topic that is allowed to be discussed.

I agree a lot of what has gone up on the site has been extremely targeted at government (but honestly who can blame people for that)! But there are some pretty positive ideas going up too, and I'm sorry your idea was censored out Colin, but still.. keep on thinking and you never know - I wouldn't be too focused on the winning prizes either, if the site gets people thinking someone could come up with a mind-blowing idea they never would have thought have had they not been thinking about uploading on the website! Keep thinking everyone :)

Its not a new product idea forum. i.e. I dont believe the objective is to assist a company or even a start-up develop a new product.
Plus check out the Itellectual Property terms & conditions.

I don't think it is a new product idea forum either.. I believe from my understanding of it that is a forum generating positivity and aiming to collect ideas which will help bring Ireland out of the recession - it may not be perfect but at least it's a step in the right direction and is positive unlike our media at present

The 200k prize money + the costs to run and market and admin this venture - where is that coming from?

Thank God your way of thinking is in the very small minority.

Did you honestly think you could deserve 100k for that?
