Hi, Does anyone know or does anyone have any experience of getting mortgage Interest supplement after 12months. This being that circumstances have not improved,ie still unemployed with no other income. I know they say 12months is the limit but maybe with the current climate etc.........
    Thanks

Hi,I am having the same problems. But a friend of mine was awarded this payment 2 years ago before all hell broke lose in the economy. The way she was told it works is that for the 1st year they get 75% of the interest of their mortgage, the 2nd year they would get 50% and the 3rd year they would get 25%.I applied for this last may,and before this my mortgage was in arrears as I was not aware of this scheme, they refused it to me as they said my arrears were too high, which they were not as I had still been paying something.I appealed this and then in september they awarded this payment to me in september for 6 months, this stopped 2 weeks ago and they said I was not entitled to it as I was only awarded it for 6 months.I appealed agagin and just yesterday was given it again for another 6 months but was told over the phone not to dare ask for it again in 6 months time.My question is what makes me any different to my friend and why do these people get to play god.Why cant there just be set guidelines and bars for everyone(mortgage amount, term, how many children you have)my argument was they gave me this payment for 6 months and stopped it and I cannot afford to pay my repayments therefore I see it as dead money as I have been paying my mortgage of 900 a month and was almost considering giving the house back when they declined my review, which i could have done 6 months ago if I had known,as now I was back in the same position and has not helped me get out of it.therefore wasting more of the taxpayers money as it now in the bankers pocket and I was looking at the idea of being homeless.
Oh and there is one difference between me and my friend, both her and her husband are claiming jobseekers benefit and this payment and both work fulltime, something which I am not doing,I dont scam and scheme so if these people were doing their jobs right both her and the husband would be caught out.I wouldnt wish badness on anyone but I'm sick of seeing the dodgy people getting away with everything these days when other people literaly live day to day.
