what sky box have you got . is it sky+ or have you subscribed to sky hd?

your plasma will have scarts, composite phono(red yellow white sockets)

there will be no probs connecting a sky + box to it

Its a sky +HD. At the back of the tv there are only a red and white socket. The model number of the tv is TH-42pwd6 if that means anything. I have tried connecting it and all I am getting is in the top right hand No Signal.

Have a read of this. First hit when I googled "TH-42pwd6 sky hd"
