My mum just posted it after the doc did her bit with the forms.

Am just wondering, will this take long?

Its going to take a couple of weeks to process her claim.

Depending on the information that was provided by her medical certifier may be necessary for her to undergo a medical assessment to ascertain whether she meets the medical criteria for eligibility.

As its an allowance payment she will also be means tested.

In the meantime, she may apply for supplementary welfare allowance from her local community welfare officer and this is also a means tested payment on household income.

I know someone who was on disability then made re apply due to change of address on the 6th of Dec, Finally had an accessor to the house two weeks ago, told it should be sorted within a week.

Spent 3 days calling Longford for an update, but they are on industrial action so they are back logged. Sent an e-mail, got a reply saying all inquiries must be made by phone to Longford.

Community welfare officer will only pay €150 per week due to a break down in communication between Longford and Waterford. There will be no entitlement to the arrears when the claim is approved as this is the amount the Community officer has awarded the claimant.

Good Luck could be a while, my advice is to start calling Longford as soon as you are assessed!

I applied on the 22/10/09, it got rejected so appealed on the 24th Dec 2009.
Still waiting, only got my acknowledgement of appeal last week. I have been 16 weeks in Limbo, with a rare disease backed up by consultants from both Ireland and New York, yet I havnt even been offered a means test of any kind.
