I saw a couple cycling two Dublin Bikes through main street Dunlaoghaire, apart from the expense, these two must have been fit. :D

Whats the furthest you have seen or cycled one of these from the main catchment area?

I saw one being cycled back from the huge pier at Pigeon House Road, and I heard a story of a couple of students who cycled to Belfast, then hired a van and drove back, and returned them within the 24 hour limit.

I assume that some nutjob is going to give the Wicklow 200 a go on one?

    Saw one in Donnybrook.

Wouldn't want to get a puncture and be too far from a parking bay.

Saw someone going towards Finglas from the canal at Broombridge on Sunday I think.

I reckon it'd be good to extend them a bit good bit further outside the city, it might encourage even more usage

I was in Africa last month, and saw some guy cycling round on a Parisian velib!

In fairness, Dun Laoghaire isn't that far.

Far enough for some people to get lost.

That depends on the route you take. ;)

    Edit: Damn you, Dirk!

Its far enough on a 3 speed velib that weighs a ton. :p

Not really. I've seen people with little fitness ride similar or worse bikes that far.

I actually found the dublin bikes pretty nippy, steering was a little wild and I find it hard to get used to riding upright again, but they can go when they want to.

Saw one locked outside WestWood gym in Clontarf/Fairview, not that far out but seems expensive to use one and leave it outside while working out in the gym.
They really should have a station in the middle of the Phoenix Park, around the zoo perhaps as it would give people a chance to cycle out and then use the park for a walk/run before cycling back.

Who ever had it would have used up far more calories getting to the Gym than working out. :pac:
