If anything at least a new cinema would bring some footfall to the city after six o clock.

Nowadays, you can be sure to see only junkies, winos or beggars around during the evening tapping people for fags and ''spare change''.

But that issue is for another thread as my blood is beginning to boil just thinking about those cretins. :pac:

Well if it keeps the scobes away from Storm and the Omniplex then its welcome, that was the great thing about the Savoy, when it turned into a knack infested sh1thole at least we had options to watch movies somewhere else

A cinema would be a great addition to the city centre. As it stands the suburbs are really starting to squeeze the life out the city and are for us who live in the city, any extra alternative entertainment options would be more than welcome!

Yes theres an article on the post today explaining how retailers in town are threatening to not pay rates as the city centre is effectively crumbling in terms of the amount of shops closing and the state of Patrick Street which is in limbo waiting for the Opera Centre to open.

    Which probably never will.

I moved out to Dooradoyle a while back and was in town for the first time since yesterday, couldnt believe how quiet it was at 4pm, walked down Cruises St and there was about a dozen people to be seen, there's what, 5 retail units just sitting there empty now? it was towns busiest street at one stage, its all a bit too little too late as far as trying to get people back into town, the city makes too much from parking to give it away for free so thats never going to happen, its amazing how efficient our parking wardens are but the council cant do anything else right, coincidence?
