Just wondering have any new smaller lcd tv's with mpeg 4 tuner come onto the market ?
Would be looking at 26" or smaller lcd.

I know that RTE are testing the DTT service but is there any reason that they seem to keep changing the frequency every week or two ?

And finally why has Ireland gone with mpeg4 instead of mpeg2, are there additional benefits to going with mpeg4 ?

There is a sticky above where this is discussed at length. You should find what you need in there.

My brother purchased this Samsung LE22B470 22" LCD TV DVD Combi for the bedroom and can confirm it's MPEG-4. Available since about Oct/Nov.

    Also available from Power City

I believe it to be DTT capable - will take it back if it isn't - won't know for sure until next week. @ 249 for 23" think it is a good price.

Surely you did the research beforehand and satisfied yourself that it is MPEG4 capable?

of course... but until i see it myself i won't count my chickens.... distance selling rights mean you can return the goods with no quible/reason - so i gave up triple checking. komplett have the collection point so returning is easy.

It does have an MPEG4 processor. Will be fine.

In one sentence - Mpeg2 is old lossy compression the use of which dates back to the 90s in the UK whilst Mpeg4 H264 is more efficient and has quickly become the standard these days within broadcasting in Europe.

If you want an idea of who is using what in video encoding scroll to the bottom of this wiki article.
