    Hi Guys,

I have an old laptop at home that I haven't used in about a year that I have promised to someone. As I'm not the most IT proficient, I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me out with.

    2. System Cleaning

What is the easiest way of cleaning the hard drive? Can I simply restore the machine to factory settings?

    Thanks in advance,
    Conor.

Have you tried using a blank password with the Administrator account?

However if you restore the machine to the factory settings you should be able to set up a new account.

How old is the machine? What model is it?

    Thanks Insurgent.

I will try the factory reset and see how that goes. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron which is about 6 years old.

If you have a restore CD, try that, otherwise re-install/repair from XP CD. <snip>

I've snipped posts for obvious reasons. OP just do a fresh install of XP, it really is the best way of "cleaning" any computer.
