    Hi
Just wondering what a good wide angle lens would be recommended for taking group shots at a wedding?
    Thanks!

What make/model camera are you using?

    How large is the group?

What is light like in the venue?

    Canon 7d
its a hypothetical question, I dont know which venue or how big the crowds would be yet, I have used my Canon 24-70 2.8 usm lens before and have to stand way back, so was wondering if there is a better lens to use?

    24-70mm f/2.8 is a brilliant lens.

If you want wider, there's the Canon 10-22mm EFS lens, or else the 16-35mm f/2.8 lens. Large difference in price between those two.

I have a 10-22mm wide lens that I use with my Canon cameras. It's great but if you have a group shot at too wide an angle, people at either end of the wide shot will look slightly warped.

Or the much more reasonably priced Canon 17-40mm f4

I have both 10-22 and 17-40L f4. The latter is the one I'd prefer for a group shot.

DO NOT PLACE YOUR OVERWEIGHT WIFE/SISTER/COUSIN/AUNT/GRANNY/FRIEND AT THE EDGE OF A WIDE ANGLE SHOT.

From the ones listed above the 17-40L would be a good bet
