What the heck happened to RTE2?

Why have they killed all the preschoolers TV and replaced it with tween garbage?

I mean, do they really think the people that watched Sockie and Emma will watch tween vampire comedy and Josh and Drake.

Time to finally get that Sky box I guess.

    What can RTE2 be thinking?

It's not like they'll get more ratings by showing programmes designed for age groups that are in school at the time of their broadcast.

Just ridiculous and and pretty low.

Theyve always done this on midterm breaks - no nothing really new.

Don't think so....their website seems to say it's the schedule, full-stop.

    Very annoying.

I hope it's just this week.

Anyway, just signed up for SKY.

Shame I have to submit to UK TV, but I guess it's inevitable.

They may run it over 2 weeks since some schools take mid-terms across different weeks.

I can confirm having spoken to someone in that Dept of RTÉ that it is a scheduling technique that they use during the holiday periods.

Socky and Emma's show is taken of during the school breaks as older kids are at home, while during the school period preschool programming is shown from 9 to 12. So their preschool stuff returns when school children are away at school and you will find that preschool programming will be taken off when the Easter Holidays begin.

You should write to the young people's dept they are very responsive and are happy to hear from their viewers.

    I don't work for RTÉ.

Why bother? The BBC offer children channels free of charge. A cheap satelite system would get them for you.

During mid term the older kids are firmly in charge of the TV in most houses so RTE have to cater to them. Cbeebies is way better for younger kids anyway

(I caught some of that vampire show the other morning and really liked it )

RTÉ don't run advertising during Den Tots and they don't show ads during half hour shows on The Den.

They've got plenty of that kind of programming on TG4!
