Apple have refused to service my ipod due to liquid damage. Its been returned to me and now I dont really know what to do. The screen seems to be still working but the backlight isnt. When i connect it to the pc the screen says its charging and has a yellow warning triangle beside the battery meter. The ipod is still in warranty but service was refused. I checked a few american sites and some people had similar experiences got an email from apple giving them a discount on getting a new ipod. Do you know if that is still their policy or do they simply forget about you?

    Cheers

if it is liquid damage it is understandable why Apple will not do a warranty repair.

Have you tried a third party repair place to see what sort of money it would cost to have it repaired?

Yeah I knew they wouldnt repair it but I heard they give a discount on a new ipod. I think theres some life left in it anyway, the backlight has started working again and I can hear some sort of alarm noise when i try to turn it on so I'll try to see if it can be repaired

Just a quick follow up for anyone that experiences a similar situation. I rang apple and they told me for €140 they will definitely fix it, regardless of the damage. I went into fonemenders and they said there was no point in them looking at it due to liquid damage. So i find it odd apple say they will guarantee to fix it

Because they'll give you a refurb if they can't fix yours. Woul dyou not be better off going for a new one at that price?

yeah the 140 offer is rubbish. no point. might as well get a new one.
