Hi guys im interested in starting up a small clay pigeon shoot more than likely a DTL to start, has anyone ever done this before and what kind of costs involved, Insurance and any other fees associated.
I have suitable land for it and sheds to store clays and other equipment.

It would initially be of 5/7 of us shooting, and if it worked out would open it up to others.

    All info most welcome.

Check with neighbours,if any about noise, and would they have objections to this going on near them.Try and agree a specific day and time of actual shooting with them and the Gardai[No one likes to be awoken on a Sunday at 9AM to a barrage:eek: and the Gardai wont be peed off coming out to find out about the "gun battle going on on farmer Murphys farm.
This also gives farmers a chance to move nerveous stock or horses away from the area on those days.Thats 3/4 of the battle won.Getting and keeping the neighbours sweet and on your side.
Insurance, deffo, you need public liability at least and public indemnity if you can get it.

The nearest houses (only 2 within 2 mile) are about 500 yards away, First one is a cousin of mine and the second is a Garda.

Ground is really bog land, no animals near it at all.

There def wouldnt be any 9am shooting be pretty much a casual thing and then take it from there.

I am sure NARGC members are insured for a shoot like this. May be some terms and conditions. Good Luck.

if not you can form a club and use countryside alliance insurance ,

some of the best fun you will have is informal clay shooting .

just make sure some is in charge of safety .but we are all safety officers when out and about.
