Drain some out, the full mark is there for a reason imo.
Hope you done the filter too!

That's overfilled. I'd drain some out.

Looks like 2.8 litres is the capacity for the Starlet according to castol.co.uk.

Overfilling with oil will cause long term damage to the engine. Drain some out or be prepared for a major engine bill in the future. You have been warned!

That's a little small. I'd say 3.3 litres is about right for a 1.3L engine. Altho if I was arsed I could google for something like 4EFE oil capacity...

Was the 1/2" overfill before you ran the engine and filled the oil filter?

If it was dip it again. It should now be about 10mm above the max and while not ideal, will be fine. Most of those engines use a drop of oil anyway so it wont be long dropping to normal.

If its above this, let some out.

Assuming most 1.3's are the same, it's 3.5 litres, same as my Civic :)

Putting too much oil in the engine can put excess pressure on the engine seals and destroying them. Would mean a part or full rebuild replacing the valves seals etc....

I don't know if cars these days have a release valve to prevent excess oil circulating around the engine or not...

I wouldn't assume anything when it comes to cars!:)
(A 1.8 almera only takes about 3 litres of oil.)

The toyota engine takes about 3 1/4 litres to fill when you change the filter as well.
