Wedding outfit?

So I'm just asking for a bit of advice!

I'll be going to a wedding in April this year and I've decided it's about time I've tried to find something to wear.

I haven't been a wedding since I was 10 (I'm 16 now) and am a bit confused as to what to wear or what would be suitable etc.

I was thinking about this but it seems more like something a bridesmaid perhaps would wear?

Anyone have any ideas because I am completely lost and was looking around town the other day but can't see much I would see myself wearing.

I think it is a little bit like a bridesmaids dress and a little old for a 16 years old. I would suggest something you will wear again as well. I post again if I spot something.

Thanks for the quick reply, tbh I would agree but I seriously have looked everywhere and am becoming a bit desperate at this stage.

I never really would find a place to wear a dress again, never have really just its a necessity now...

I'm a size 8/10 and 5'6, got quite wide shoulders aswell if that would make a difference to what would suit me? I'm just so clueless!

April is a good while away. Shops will still be getting in summer stock.

I quite like the second one but the brides dress is a shade of cream quite similar to that and I wouldn't want to feel like people may be making remarks.

I'm in Cork so mostly the city might be in Dublin during the weekend so will try have a look around up there.

I realise that but I would much prefer to have it sorted now instead of buying something on the last minute just because I have to.

A friend of my cousins bought something from it recently and she's not far off your age.. I haven't bought something from it myself but prices seem reasonable.

Take a look in New Look, H&M, Top shop and River Island in the new Opera Lane Development. You should be able to pick up a suitable dress with out paying a fortune. Look out for nice accessorize to dress it up.

Monsoon also have some nice stuff in stock but more pricy.

Some very pretty dresses there but I'd feel very wary about buying something online and not being able to try it on..

I have done! All their stuff is very fashionable and I just could never see myself in I'm looking for something plain and simple but not too boring if you get me?

This is a beautiful dress but it isn't suitable for a wedding. Wearing cream or white to a wedding is bad ettiquette.

Something similar would be perfect in another colour though.

I think Lipsy would be a good place for you to start it's young and fresh and they have lots to choose from, some of it is a little trashy but other dresses are very elegant and pretty. If you are in Dublin at the weekend go to Arnotts Project which is in the jervis centre. They have a great selection of dresses that I think would suit.

Go for something young and as another poster said, something you might wear again.

No problem I'm a bit like that myself.. I think there might be a lipsy in dundrum and House of Fraser sometimes have nice dresses (haven't been in there recently myself) maybe if you are in Dublin check it out..Best of luck!

Have you any idea of what kind of shoes you'll wear? I like these flats, but that may be because me and heels don't mix well lol.

My 16year old sister wore that dress to a wedding a few weeks ago and it was lovely on her!!

Can I just say you sound very mature for a 16year old, or maybe my sister is so very immature!!

I think lipsy is slightly too tacky for a wedding. Its more nights out sort of stuff. Also DONT wear black or white/cream

If you have wide shoudlers strapless dresses can make them look bigger, but if you have long hair, or wear a nice necklace (not a long one, one that goes around your collar bone) it can counteract the effects.

It also depends on your budget. Shop in monsoon and coast for the best stuff really.
