    Hi there,

We are getting married in Italy later in the year, and were wondering about only having a DJ at the wedding. Has anyone been to a wedding that only has a DJ? How did you find it? Would you recommend it?

If you had a wedding in Italy recently with a DJ could you let me know approx how much he/she cost?

    Many Thanks!

    K

We went dj only and it was fine. Just get a decent list of songs for all ages, ideally also on ipod just in case they don't have everything you need. Remember in Italy the dinner goes on for longer than it does here and as such you won't be dancing as long.
    He cost us €630.00

Thanks Barbiegirl - did that include the lights etc?

Out of interest where in Italy did you get married?

    Thanks!

in my experience, in spain and italy and france DJs will cost you 600 for 3 hours with 150 per hour after that. you can negotiate and agree a price around that but that should be your budget and good luck if you get it cheaper.
DJ in europe will be as same as getting a 4-5 hour DJ here. It will be fine if he knows his business.

Hey, I've been Djing at weddings for over 10 years and have done quite a few DJ only weddings. TBH I find that they are too long and would definately recommend some kind of music either before or after, even if it is only some friends and a guitar. The best DJ in the world will struggle to keep a crowd interested for more than 3 hours. Unless they have a very well thought out set, with games and a few themes, and a few breaks too I'd be wary of it. I know it is common in the UK to have DJ only weddings but they generally finish up at 12am. It's up to yourself but that is my take as a DJ.

I would agree that can be the case although it does depend on the crowd and quality of dj. Even a fireworks/sky lantern display to break the night up might help and any decent dj should have a good light display included in the price of the package. Make sure you specify what you are getting though and what type of disco lighting you require ie. Lasers would be required for more dancey sets but not really used at wedding unless requested
