Hey, I am looking to buy a MIDI keyboard to control soft synths with Reaper. I am just wondering how much should I expect to pay and if there are any particular models that I should look out for. Don't really know anything about soft synths but a friend uses a MIDI keyboard controller with ableton live and he plays synths off of ableton. I am assuming the same can be done with Reaper?

you can pay anything from E50 for a 25 key up to ... well lots ...

choice basically comes down to how many keys you want (25, 49 +)

some midi keyboards have pads (for drums etc) sliders and knobs for controling parameters in your daw (ie reaper) ...

in my opinion theres no need to spend lots of money on one as the basic ones will work perfectly well - I wouldnt pay extra for weighted keys unless your'e a keys player - or an aspiring one.

there's usually a few on adverts for little money

they will all work just fine and dandy in reaper
