Laptop via TV

Hi I am trying to play movies etc. from my laptop via TV but having no luck. I have an Acer Travelmate 4050 and am using a S-video to RCA cable from laptop to TV. Using XP. When I go to Display in Control Panel there is no sign of TV as an option for output. I tried FN/F3. And booting up with connection in place. Any ideas?

Hi
