Yep and it's really annoying how more and more companies are ditching split screen. 4 player split screen with mates will always beat playing online. I wish other developers would follow the Halo 3 approach of allowing 4 player split screen online so that it will be in a good game this time :P

4 Players on the one tv is only good if you have a huge TV though.
I have a 32" Sony Bravia and id have to sit closer playing with my bro on Resident Evil 5.

And it also depends on what game you are planning to play.

I think the game developers are leaning towards CO-OP online with one of your online friends rather than a friend in your sitting room.

I hate this. I wish more games had a split screen co-op. It's always great craic playing through a game with 2 people. I remember when I got my ps3 playing Restance with my mate, good times.

Bah! I remember the days of playing Quake 2 on ps1 with a multitap on a 14" screen and it was great. Goldeneye and Mario Kart as well. I have a 32" screen now and to me it's amazing to have so much screen available when 4 people are playing. It's like having a whole 14" screen to yourself!

Playing online is never ever as much fun as having 3 other people there shouting at each other. Bad example because it's not splitscreen I suppose, but Little Big PLanet with 3 other people drunkenly shouting abuse and/or encouragement is the most fun I've had with a mutiplayer game in years. Playing with people, even friends, online just isn't the same at all. Might as well be on my own.

Even when we get a good Split Screen (E.g - Borderlands) You usually can't bring it online with both players .... (E.g Borderlands)

    :(
