Chipped MacBook

I made a thread in laptops forum, but no one helped me. My old MacBook is awfully chipped (right hand corner and left hand corner). Where should I bring the laptop (in Dublin) or do I have to send it in somewhere to get my MacBook case changed?

Mactivate in Blanch can do it for you, but it will probably be prohibitively expensive based on the value of your macbook.

When you say 'chipped', though, do you mean the casing on the corners either side of the trackpad are cracked and peeling off? If so, that's a known issue with the black and white macbooks and Apple will replace the bottom section of your macbook casing for free - even if you're outside your warranty.

I had this problem with my macbook which was almost 2 years outside the warranty period and the Apple store in Glasgow replaced the case for me the same day. For free!

Yes it's the corners that are chipped.
They have to change it for free because it's manufacturers fault (I did my research, but I don't know where to get the macbook to change it. Mine is outside the warranty too.)

Thanks for the link, I'm going to email them and if they're willing to help I'm going to bring my mac to them :).

Mactivate probably won't do it same day but if you are going to the Belfast Apple store, ring ahead after you've booked a Genius Bar appointment and they should be able to replace the case same day!

They wrote me back saying that they will order the case from Apple and then they will call me to get there. Thank you!
