Fuel Gauge Needle - Stuck

    Mazda Demio, the fuel gauge needle is stuck at about 3/4 full. Any ideas if it's a faulty gauge or tank sender unit or any chance it might just be a temporary fault.

    Might be temporary.

    I had a problem a few years ago where I was only filling the tank about half way, for a few months, letting it get down to a little under a quarter before filling up again, and the needle stuck, without me knowing, and I hadn't been tracking my mileage, and of course, it conked out on me. It was funny at the time, because I remember passing a petrol station, looking at the gauge, and seeing it about halfway between 1/2 and 1/4, and thinking I was fine for now - about a km up the road it conked out.

    Anytime I fill now, I fill it usually to the top or at least 3/4's, and it hasn't been an issue since.
