Hard Drive Newbie

    Hi folks,
new to Macs and new to hard drives, so please bear with me!
I was given a 1tb Seagate External drive as a birthday pressie-I was a PC user, now using a PowerMac G4, Os X 10.4.11 from the last month or so. I have a lot of stuff saved onto dvds that I want to put onto the hard drive for the Mac, but when I try to move something onto it, it just says the drive cannot be modified.

I was reading on some of these pages that I can format the Seagate drive so that it will work on a Mac and I've gone into Disk Utility, but don't know exactly how to format it for a Mac?

There's options for First Aid/Erase/Partition/RAID/Restore....Could anyone talk me through it/explain what to do? I just don't wanna do something that could potentially render the hard drive unusable for Mac or PC!

    Thanks in advance!
