CAV pump problem

Last May I came on here looking for a small tractor , I found one a Ford 2000, stripped it down sand blasted resprayed and rewired, had everything checked out and was running like a dream.
Took it for a run last Saturday and after about 2 miles it started to splutter as if it wasnt getting enough diesel, got her home changed filter and got her running but I was only getting diesel to two injectors, swapped around the delivery valves and still only fuel to two injectors, so I left the delivery valve out of one port and no diesel came out but it was delivering to the other two injectors.
I contacted a diesel expert and he told me this was impossible, you either get fuel to all three or none, has anyone here come across this problem before.

He also quoted me a minimum of €500 to repair....

    Well that is strange alright.

The CAV pump is a distributor pump and only has the one pumping element in it. If one is working, they all should be.

did you take off the injector pipe at the pump end or the injector end?

if you took it off the injector then there is a possiblity that the pipe is blocked with dirt, krud, rust

shoot some brake cleaner through the pipe and into a clean container to see what comes out

the advise you got already seems true allright as there is normally all or nothing with the cav pumps as i have battled one or two also

check also the stopper cable is pushing forward out of the way in case you are only getting partial release, itmight reduce the diesel flow

as a matter of splatter, which injector isnt getting it

    good hunting

Got it back today €260. I left it with a local mechanic who got a guy in Shercock Co Cavan to recondition it, he said there was a lot wrong with it mainly due to the tractor lying up for a number of years and condensation in the tank.

Top notch guys in my experience. I bought test equipment from them a few years ago, they'd spent over a million on test kit, were doing jobs for UK customers at that time.

Very pleasant people to deal with, wish them the best.
