I host a show on LifeFM 93.1 in Cork (www.lifefm.ie on internet) and every Monday we discuss topics and have a discussion between an atheist and a theist.
I am looking for suggested topics that would be suitable for that type of discussion.

    Previous Topics were
    Does God Exist?
Where do we get our morals from?

Any suggestions please post here. Also looking for people to represent either side so suggestions welcome on that too!

"Is there a divine inspired objective morality?"
    Jakkass vs. Sam Vimes

    "Evolution and Christianity"
    J.C vs. doctoremma

    "Does society need religion?"
    PDN vs. robindch

    and finally

"The most effective way to quickly source youtube videos that fit into thread topics"
    MaltyT vs. FlamedDiving

Does God have faith in us?

    Is Creationism/ID intellectually dis/honest?

    Does prayer actually work?

    Ye pretty much several times.
    Here's some more:

"Is your religion determined by geographical location?" <-- probably wouldn't be a whole episode on it's own
    "Are people really Christian?"

The latter is something that comes up regularly. It concerns how the vast majority of so-called Christians in this country are cafeteria-Christians i.e. they only go to Church on special occasions and couldn't quote you a verse from the Bible.

I started threads on both topics before:

Is Christmas/Easter really 'Christian'? (seasonal special)

Do the Ten Commandments still apply to the modern world?

Great Stuff Guys, keep em coming.

If there are a few of you willing to come on air and discuss that would be great too.

Send me a PM if you're interest and/or know someone who would be able to hold their own in a debate/discussion scenario.

    NOOOOO!!!!!

It's one thing over the internet but if I was sitting across a table from him I'd fear for his safety :D

    Thanks guys,

All the discussions are done over the phone unless you are in Cork and available to come into the studio.

These topics all sound pretty good though....

If you could pick someone from A&A to go on, who would it be? I would probably go for Robin.

Absolutely chuffed liamw, but I have enough to be doing myself at the minute! Besides, they already just finished that topic if you were listening last night :)

Honestly, really don't want to be in the same room as him. He might start trying to share the love (which inexplicably translates in my head an image of a dog rubbing against someone's leg, sorry).

Monosharp might be able to handle it better :)

I'd love to see DogmaticLefty on the show becasue his arguments are so rational and convincing

    Me too. :)

A topic I'd like to see hammered out would be:

    "What's so benevolent about God?"

Or as I'd probably phrase it:

    "God: Benevolent, my ass".

Robion seems the obvious choice. He is incredibly well spoken and learned.

    Shucks, folks! Thanks :o

Personally, I'd like to see a soccer match between A+A and christian forums, with Asisprod as ref, via webcam if necessary. Whatever else, I'd love to see JC in goal ("That goal was mathematically impossible :confused::confused: !!")

There'd be shades of this of course.

Well if there were two people (1 from atheist forum and 1 from Christian) that were willing to go on air and hammer out a topic/have a moderated debate I could certainly facilitate that. The whole aim of my show is to get people discussing religion/non-religion and realise that it can be done rationally, fairly and with courtousy.

Maybe each mod of the different forum (or mods themselves) could suggest potential candidates and we could vote on a potential proposal for the debate/discussion???

I would suggest sorting out the discussion topic before gathering volunteer candidates? If you want we could do a poll and then people could throw their name into the pot for the winning topic. Whatever people want, though. (I won't be taking part.) :)

To be honest, you'll have no problem getting someone from here to sign up but I'd concentrate on getting the 'other side' organised first. Maybe PM the Christianity mods about posting a thread to see if one of their forum regulars would be interested.

Imagine how good a goalkeeper JC would have been if he had been a close direct descendent of Adam and Eve, when the expressed CSI was pure before mutations deteriorated it over generations!!! ;):):pac::P:(:D:rolleyes::D:)
