BA Degree marks calculation

I have trawled the UCD website but cannot get a clear answer to this question.

How are the final results of the BA (general arts) degree in UCD calculated? By general arts I mean if you did a traditional BA in English and French or something.

This might clarify what precisely I am asking if it doesn't completely confuse: when I was in UCD the final results were calculated by a method known as 'beneficial aggregration' which meant that (in the case of the BA degree) they added 30% of your second year mark to 70% of your final year mark and compared it to you final year mark on its own.

Whichever mark was higher was your actual mark in the end - which was the beneficial bit i.e. the student was automatically awarded the higher mark. In other words if you did better in your second last year than in your last you got some benefit from that. Or if you saved the best until last you were not impeded by previous marks.

Just wondering if this system still obtains or what is the current situation?

P.S. I am talking about the overall mark for an individual subject rather than modules within that subject.
