Problem with laptop battery

    It seems my battery has become worn out. For the last few months if I took out the power cable I would only have 10 minutes of battery despite it being fully charged. Now my laptop can suddenly shut down at any given moment.

    Is there any way I can fix my battery or is it dead? Will I just have to get a replacement battery?

    Buy a new one is the only fix.

    Make sure you get a genuine battery.

    Most of the cheaper Chinese manufactured batteries sold on Ebay are "knock off" of the originals and are inferior quality.

    Not alone can they infringe any warranties to your laptop if anything goes wrong, they can also put you back to square one again in a few months if its a dud and the chances of getting a refund may be slim plus the expense off return registered postage.

    I learned my lesson when an 8800mA Extended Battery for an EEEPC 901 that ended up as an expensive paper weight after three months.

    Yeah have to agree with this, be careful, a cheap battery might be a false economy

    Sorry for hi-jacking the thread but I have exactly the same problem so no point in starting a new one.

    I have a HP pavilion dv7 and the battery is fooked in it. Where do people suggest I buy a new battery? I'm not pushed on ebay if most (or all) of them there are knock offs. Is there anywhere to get a genuine battery apart from going direct to HP where I assume the prices would be slightly higher?
